Our participation at the PHION Project (2018-2021) was established.

PHION is aiming to minimize uncertainties in the toxicity estimation of ionisable chemicals. Studies performed on zebrafish embryos and invertebrates will investigate the pH dependence of bio-concentration factors (BCF) and toxicity of selected ionisable chemicals. Existing concepts explaining the accumulation and toxicity of organic chemicals will be reviewed for their applicability on ionisable substances, while new modelling approaches will enable the generation of future toxicity estimates for chemicals at different pH levels, even if toxicity data are only available for a single pH level.
